About Pi Beta Phi

Founded in 1867 by twelve young women seeking sincere friendship, leadership, and opportunities for personal growth, Pi Beta Phi has spent over 150 years empowering women to pursue their goals and support one another. Since 2008, Pi Phi has been a home for kind, passionate, and driven women at MIT.

We host multiple events a year, such as our “Arrowspike” volleyball tournament, benefitting our national philanthropy Read > Lead > Achieve®, supporting children’s literacy. Our newly renovated house, affectionately known as the Phouse, is conveniently located on dorm row and hosts 52 of our beloved sisters. From fresh-baked cookies paired with deep, late-night conversations to birthday parties and study sessions after chapter, there is always something exciting to stumble into.

Our sisters are killing it on the field and in the water, hosting hackathons, and leading business clubs. They are conducting impactful research in labs at MIT and universities around the globe, participating in internships at top firms and industry giants. They are giving back to their community, volunteering in hospitals and homeless shelters, and mentoring kids local in Cambridge and across the country.

No matter where our sisters are—whether in competition, on stage, or in front of a presentation—you can always count on another one being there, cheering from the front row. In our sisterhood, charity, and all we do, we truly embody our motto—“Connect. Serve. Shine.”
